February is community helper month!
Today, we had a special visit from Villa Park Pediatric Dentistry in an effort to spread awareness of proper dental hygiene and to highlight helpers within our community.
The dental hygienists read a story about the sugar bugs in our mouth. They then talked about foods that are good and bad for teeth, and how regular tooth brushing helps to remove bacteria and plaque that cause tooth decay and gum disease. They talked about brushing teeth twice a day – in the morning and before going to bed at night. They showed children the differences between a healthy tooth and an unhealthy tooth and also showed the children how to brush their teeth correctly. Then, each child got a turn brushing a stuffed animals’ teeth.
