We had our Book Exchange today! This is was great opportunity to teach children about the joy of giving/receiving while promoting literacy. Each child, even the infants and toddlers brought in a new book to give to a friend and received a book from another friend.
The older preschool children brainstormed what it means to give and discussed the importance of giving and being grateful to others. We talked about how people give gifts as a way of showing thoughtfulness, love and affection. When we give gifts, it brings joy or pleasure not only to the person receiving the gift, but also the gifter as well. Not all gifts have to be actual things.
